chicken tractor expansion help

right now we have a chicken coop that is wheelbarrow-like so it is able to be moved around. attached is a small run. we loved the fact that we can move it around so the grass doesn't die plus the chickens get fresh/clean grass to graze in. since we had six chickens in that small run, we decided to expand it so they would have a larger area to use when there locked in. we created a wire fence around it so the coop and attached run were surrounded by a larger run. however the chickens began flying out so we had to lay a net thing down across the entire thing. now its a pain in the butt to clean, feed, water, and let the chickens out house because you now have to bend over. PLUS we are now eye level to the rooster (kind of scary since he is aggressive) the other downside is that the fence we made was by using stakes that were driven into the ground AKA its not portable. so now we cant move the darn thing. i was wondering if anyone who had a similar coop was able to create an expansion that was portable and that you can stand up in.

I don't know it this will work for your situation. I make portable runs for my garden. It keeps the chickens in and predator out.

Each section is 5' square with a 14" predator guard extending from the side. The runs can be make very long and are very easy to make.
When the whole setup is in place I have enough units to make a 100' run plus a coop.

I don't get into the runs. If I need in the run I just unhook a unit and lift it up. They are made from 2"x4"x60" 12.5 gauge galvanized welded wire fencing and each run unit weighs about 45 lbs.

Whatever you add on, just have it coming off of the doorway under the coop (I see it lifted up there in your picture). That way it can be short (like jaxon's setup) and you don't have to worry about walking inside to let your birds in/out. Just shut the main door so that's they're only option....

I move my tractor coop and run in two separate pieces, so I kind of have what you're talking about building. You already have some extra run space built-in to the coop part of your setup that I don't have. Anyway, I think it's very doable.

I see a "double wide" run in your future. Build a cage-like structure that connects and dis-connects to an existing doorway in your tractor. I can't see where your access doors are to the coop, so I'm not sure where the best place would be. Maybe like the previous poster suggested, you could connect the two with the doorway that is under the coop.

When it comes time to move the tractor, you could un-dock the extra run, and move it separately. It will probably be light enough to just slide on the ground (no need for wheels) because it won't have all the extra weight of a coop. It would be just the wire and the frame. You might have an extra door on it for access.

It's up to you how you want to build this extra run. Mine is almost tall enough to stand up in. It's hard to see the scale of your coop with the photo, but if your current tractor is as tall as a person, you could match that height. That would give you access to the new run at all times. Or, if you make the run short, it would be lighter. As long as you can still reach everything in your original tractor to clean, feed, gather eggs, etc., you wouldn't really need access to this extra run. If you would need to get in there, you could just move the thing out of the way.

Post some pictures as you go along. I would be interested in what you come up with. Having a movable system make most run problem that people have disappear.

well we finally started. what we have done so far is create a 8' long box, wire on all but the bottom and one end open. on the open end we put hook and eye closures. the point is to back the attachment up to one of the doors of the chicken tractor and latch on to it. also on the far end we attached two wheels and added handles to the top. sooo the attachment will be movable as well as the tractor. will post pics when were finished.
