You all have been so kind, thank you. My 8 y/o granddaughter chewed me out about not going top bed last nighttongue.png

I had slept so much yesterday and the night before I wanted to be up while the house was quiet. I'll head to bed here

shortly for a 3 to 4 hour nap.

July it wasn't a bad flu it was hib/eppoglottitis, it's a bacterial thing.

I have not been able to enjoy my critters due to those darn head aches, but I'm told I should start feeling

better in a few days. The symptoms last approx 2 weeks and today is over half way there.

They gave me great pain meds for the pain. Funny I went there just before shift change and the 2nd doctor didn't act like it was

big a deal as the 1st doctor did. Anyway off to get a couple or three hours nap before my granddaughter scolds me again.

I'm glad you're on your way to recovery. Sounds like a miserable affair.

I know I immunized all my kids for Hib, but hadn't ever talked to anyone who had it. I'm so sorry you were very ill. Hearing just how scary and life threatening Hib is makes me feel really good that I immunized my kids for it.

I hope you feel better soon.

minpin,

Did they figure out where you might have gotten meningitis?  I hope its the viral and not bacteral.  My daughter got bacterial when she was 5.  We have no idea where she got it from as she wasn't in kindergarten yet.  So glad you are on your way to recovery.

minpin, many of us who reach this age suddenly start falling apart and have a bad year or two. Don't worry, we do recover!!  Sometimes I think it's just that at age 50 the Dr.s suddenly believe us when we aren't feeling well.

If I had known a few chickens would make the man THAT happy....
mom & dad, teaching our rescue BRT Bess all about chickens, EE, Orps and now marans!  The man says we are switching to orps and marans, and they'reHISchickens!

Laura 877 they gave me ideas of way I may of contracted it but none make sense. I just know whoever was in the rght place

at the right time should of stayed home, same with the person who spread hib to me in July.

They'rehischickens, I feel so old lol.

Haven't been on much today, just worn out, I get my hours of feeling better and the I dip down into miserableville.

I'm in miserableville tonight, been sleeping on and off all day, heading to bed now.  I just pray my two granddaughters (3 and 8) who live with us

don't catch this. I'm unfamiliar if the shots they've gotten cover against this. Funny I'm way more worried about them than myself

after all is what a grandma does. Night all, I have lockdown tomorrow for some swedish flower hens, lemon cockoo orps, a lone silkie

and maybe some LS. jumpy.gif

BTW is anyone out there into herbs who can suggest someone anti viral herb I can take?

We used to call it H-flu back in the day, but it's not the same "flu" as the influenza that goes around during flu season.  Epiglottitis is scary.  You always need to be prepared to perform an emergency trach... Fortunately I've only seen a couple cases in all my years as a respiratory therapist.

Echinacea, ginger, tumeric, peppermint, astragalus, and garlic are  some herbs that are supposed to have anti-viral properties.

I hope you are feeling better soon!
