This picture shows general size difference.  Of course, they weren't the same distance from the camera, but you can see how much bigger Gertrude is than Narcissus.043.JPG

Aren't they beautiful!

Gertrude is bigger but Narcissus will catch up!! I am so happy for you that she seems to be out of danger now.. they are beautiful!

yes, after I saw her eating normally, and grooming herself, I gave such a sigh of relief.  I figured Narcy would catch up to Gerty (or maybe it'll shorten to Trudy?) within a few weeks.  Especially once I start putting them outside for a couple of hours a day.  I am so happy.  These gals were thrown on me unexpectedly, and it has been a whirlwind of worry for the little girl.  I can start enjoying them, now.

BTW, Miss Lydia, my sister lives in western NC, also.  Outside of Asheville, in a little town called Walnut (but her mail goes to Marshall).   Beautiful up there... and I relocate rocks from there to Georgia, every time I go see her... (I love rocks, too....)

I love Rocks too, lol it's a good thing I do because there sure are alot of em around here, and your sis isn't too far from me. I like Trudy alot better. smile.png  How many of the ducks survived and how are they doing?

I'd still try to get some Nutri Drench, it's such an awesome product to have on hand. I wouldn't be without it.

Of the original 9 ducks I kept (I gave 4 to another lady here who had been wanting ducks for awhile) 2 died.  One of hers died before she got her home.  So I have 7.  All buffs and gold star hybrids. Four buffs, and three gold star, .. I know there is one male, and one is a mystery duck that was an apparent extra thrown in. I'm assuming it was a gold star hybrid also, because the coloration is exactly the same as the one who were banded. I'm counting it as gold star, anyway.  They are running around healthy.  Not the first problem there.

Yes, the wonderful owner of another feed store ordered the Poultry drench for me yesterday, and she said it should be on the truck that comes in at three today.  I will take an extra half hour for (my late) lunch, and pick it up then.  If she can't get it for some reason, I will just go ahead and order from the website.

Yes, I've been on BYC for awhile, now, because of my chickens.  Never thought of getting geese.  Had considered ducks, but had not gotten around to getting any, yet.  When these fell into my lap, it was a nice surprise, though I fretted about Narcissus for days.  Now that the crisis is over, I can settle down to enjoy them. Thank goodness for this site.  So much helpful information, and so many people with practical experience.  Looking forward to trying brownies made with duck eggs.  I hear they are scrumptious.  I don't know much about the ducks, yet, because I have been reading everything I could about goslings/geese.  I'm looking forward to finding out about the ducks, now.  Thank you for the moral support these last couple of days!

All the baking i do[which isn't that much] I use duck eggs even though i have chickens.  they do make everything so moist.
