Hello!  I think you just took them off the Corid too soon.  It usually works very well.  Put them back on the Corid and keep them on it for appx 10 days.  It won't hurt them.  

Sounds like you're doing a super job of keeping them clean.  As long as their brooder is clean and dry, they should be fine. 

I had a batch of chicks catch cocci a few years ago, when I first put them outside.  They had a dirt run, and it was really super hot, rainy and humid that year, which is the perfect breeding ground for the cocci, which are tiny organizms. 

Sometimes, they get irritation and infection inside their digestive systems because of the cocci.  You could also put some duramayacin in their drinking water too, which might help clear that up.

Well, I think I was lucky, like you, I noticed the bloody stool with mine right away, and began treating them the same day.  They never even seemed sick.  The blood was their only symptom. 

I would probably keep them away from the others for those two weeks, I do think that's good advice.  Once they're about 17 weeks old, most chickens have built up immunities, so they don't get cocci after that age.

OH, I had pour bleach all over the dirt in my chicken run too.  Someone told me I had to clean the dirt, and I was like, "UM.....HOW DO YOU CLEAN DIRT?!"   Well, I had to pour bleach all over the dirt in that chicken run, and let it completely dry out.  Then after it was dry, my husband got a load of sand and we put that in the chicken run, which was much nicer to keep clean.  I just scoop the poop.

But I am surprised your chicks got the cocci, considering they were inside in your brooder.  Maybe they had it when you bought them......Very mysterious!

Stop giving them DE. Use ammonia water to clean everything, rinse thoroughly with freshwater afterwards. Corid is only supposed to be given for 5 days. But as Chicmom stated it wont hurt them, but stop at the 7th day.

If they continue to have bloody poops after corid use, you should switch to sulmet.

While giving them any types of meds in water, do not mix anything else in the medicated water including vitamins nor ACV.

I am trying to treat week old chicks that are slowly dying off of what seems like coccidia. Why can't I mix in the Sulmet with Sav-A-Chick? I also have a wheezing bird who is a little older and I have been giving her tetracycline separately . If I mix another thing of water for the meds, how do I know that the puny birds are getting it? Should I take away the Sav-A-Chick? It seems to be helping the ones who were a little lethargic, but are getting more energy back. Thank you for any information you can pass along. It's such a helpless feeling trying to figure out what is wrong with them and how to fix it.
