What breed are my chicks? - Page 3

I had bad luck when I got 2 different large breeds. Dorkings and JG's. The Dorkings would roost on a JG rooster. He got internal damage.

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

Thanks for all of your helpful ideas and suggestions! As for separating them, just so you know, the other night i made a MUCH larger brooding box for them and they have plenty of space to run (which they still do when I put my hand in!) My other three are GLS's, that I know. Thanks for sending pics of your cuties! I was looking at Cindarella last night and noticed she has teeny tail feathers! None of the others do yet, which made me wonder if she is a rooster. Anyone know why that is? She doesn't have many markings on her back or any other light spots besides around her beak. Here's a pic of her sleeping last night.

I hope Cindarella is not a rooster, or else you'd have to turn her into a prince...

It's possible but I noticed my BO pullet grew her tail feathers in quickly but then stopped. Hopefully that is what is going to happen here.

I think it is way too early to tell...give Cinderella some time to grow.  I do not use feather sexing for anything.  Everything they say, everyone of my chickens went against...so, I just wait and see now.  If he/she starts getting red in the face...then, I would worry.

Yes I will wait, thanks. Does red face = rooster?

I know well developing wattles and comb are signs of rooster but still it's very early.
