seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

I have a surprise EE hen. She doesn't have the muffs on her face, but she has a pea comb and olive colored legs and when she started to lay they are green. She was bought from a backyard breeder that told me he didn't have any tinted egg layers. Ok, so her "brother" I say that because I bought them together, has muffs, and yellow legs. Also a straight comb. If they breed, will there be ANY chance that I'll get some tinted egg layers from her? I'd like a few more and I'm thinking of sticking a few of her eggs under my silkie that is acting like she wants to be a mama!

Thats up to you;) Lol...i cant say you WILL get a pea combed chick with just 1-2 eggs...i'd go 4-5:)

LOL well, I guess it doesn't really matter. I think I have a critter stealing my eggs. I had a silkie acting broody so I put the eggs in with her and came back and all 4 were gone, and I found a small hole in the coop. I'm guessing rat. Wonderful. I also haven't had an egg from that coop since.
