Is this a Cuckoo Marans? Barred Rock or Dominque?

Thread Starter

I purchased these 5 month old hens and rooster and the fella told me they were cuckoo marans.  I am not convinced.  I got a great price on them and wanted to get some egg layers.  Currently I raise banties.  Once they start laying I bet the answer will be obvious.   The pictures are not the best but I took them in a hurry.  The individual feathers appear to be striped. The legs appear to be very light in color, not quite white and not quite gray.  The rooster seems to have a very light yellow tint.  Thanks for the help.  First post and already asking for help.

The guys/gals in the second picture look like Barred Rocks, if they were Cuckoo Marans they would have feathered legs.

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

Really? Okay!

And Hdowden is correct, those chicks have pink shanks and that matches Marans. Barred Rocks have yellow shanks. thumbsup.gif
