smile.pngSuch great pics. I have begun my research on the camera frontier. I like the Cannon t31 and the nikon d3100 or 5000. Leaning toward a cannon because i have two lenses from a film Rebel camera that will fit. What I am finding though is that it is more expensive to buy just the body instead of the kit. I can't figure that one out. So I may just make a with over to Nikon, I have zero Nikon experience with friend has the d3100 and raves about it. Are you using a flash to get theses chick close ups or a certain setting? Thanks

hi,

thanks for the compliments, I am using the flash because the brooder is in our garage and the lighting is terrible! it was just easier to use the flash and take some quick pics.

I really need to get a better flash that I can adjust so that it doesn't flash right at them... to get better lighting.

I know what you mean about the buying the "kit" I kinda wish that I had waited to buy my camera til they started doing that, I only have the 18-55mm that came with it but I have seen some bundles that have that and a 55-300 mm also which would be nice. I have never used a nikon before but alot of people do and love them. the principals are always the same just different bells and whistles on the camera I guess. I will be waiting to hear what you finally get.. wish I could afford new toys ;-)

Hi there, how did the hatch turn out?  I am on day 5. Candled some and can see development. Very exciting! Still camera shopping!

Hi!

Well the hatch turned out pretty good. All but 4 hatched, there is one more that was set at a later date that was due to hatch today but nothing so far so it may not hatch sad.png

But all things considered 17 chicks out of 22 eggs is pretty darned good. I think we have maybe 7 roos in the bunch but not positive yet,

My cousin and his kids are coming out tomorrow to pick up their chicks, maybe they will take a couple of the roos fl.gif

I am excited for you getting to see some development in your eggs... it is so fun to watch and pretty amazing really. they develop so fast. Just wait til you see the lil embryo move for the first time.... very cool.

Keep me updated on your hatch and your camera search!

Happy Hatching

is that you? or is that a video that you found? either way very cool!

I just loved seeing the little babies develop.

Mine are getting so big... I really need to get some new pics of them but have been really busy getting the garden in.

Yes... that's me and one of my Leghorn eggs! it was so cool. I sure hope they make it through to hatch...cuz now I'm getting attached! Still Camera shopping. Taking my time and doing my homework. Will definitely go SLR. Canon T3i has my attention , but it is pricey.  I already have some lenses from my film camera so it would be wasteful to go to another brand. Mother's day is coming so i will start dropping hints now. How are things with you?

Things are going well. We have one chick that has crooked toes but I have done some research and found some info on splinting their feet to correct it. Gonna try it although she doesn't seem too bothered by it.
I know what you mean about getting attached to them evenbefore they hatch.... We had a few that didn't hatch and i felt so bad but I know that is the way of things.
I agree about the Canon lenses, if you have them you should use them if you can.

Hope your Mother's Day wish comes true! big_smile.png
