Mass of poop? I know, real fun :)

New here. Hello all! I know this is nothing fun to look at and discuss, but what is it? I'm guessing big ball of poo. Two of six baby chicks has this. This is the worst case and she seems to not like it when I try to get it off. I've tried warm wash cloth, dunking the butt in warm water, etc and nothing seems to help. If I just leave it alone will the chick eventually peck it off herself? Both affected chicks are still pooping and eating normally. No weird behavior. Thanks in advance!

It's called pasty butt.  You need to remove it.  Sometimes the down comes off with it, but do be gentle.

 After removal, I use plain Vaseline to prevent recurrence. 

 

If you search here for Pasty butt, you will find other remedies/treatments for it.
