Hiding Eggs- help

Thread Starter

Ok- I have one girl who has gone broody- and so the other girls are not using the "main" nest box... (not like they don't have 8 others)...

About a month ago we realized they were laying eggs under a down branch outside- perfect cover. We started taking those eggs- and I think they have now moved someplace else.  They are 100% free range (they do have a coop- although it is in the pole barn and no fencing).

Yesterday we got 2 eggs... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!  We have 11 hens!

We have searched and searched the woods that they roam (we have 10 wooded acres... nothing. agh....

Help.

Angela, over run with peckers.

Unless you can lock them up some how for about a week to get them in the habit of using those nest boxes, there's not much you can do.  Can you lock them up in the pole barn at least?

I have the same problem with my EE bantam! It was funny because I found the eggs on Easter!
