I've got the incubator on its reading @ 98 degrees and humidity is about 50% so what should it be at and if the himmidty needs to be different how do I go that?

Take the temp up to 99.5 F, 50% is good...rising it to 65% on day 14 would be optimal. The way to raise it is add water to your incubator...

Humidity rate tip for all: Just adding water won't raise your humidity...unless of course you start out with no water, then some would rise it...but the humidity is based on the "surface area" of the exposed water....for example two glasses were put in an identical incubators at the same temp. Both had exactly the same measured amount of water in each. One glass was tall and skinny, the other was short and fat. The incubator with the short fat glass would have a higher humidity level.

So how to rise your humidity? If there is no room in your incubator to add an additional water reservoir, then add a new clean sponge water soaked...but cut it down to size...it's easier adding sponge pieces too, then trying to lower your humidity after it raises to high and drowns all your eggs before they're even hatched.

Hope this helps!

lockdown is the last 3-4 days before hatch. you do not disturb the eggs at this time. no more turning or handling at all. and raise the humidity a bit too add in hatching.
