Hi. I have 2, week and a half old chicks. One's a Buff Orpington and the other's a Dominique. And 2, one day old Silkie chicks. My dh is getting ready to build a chicken coop. I am new to chickens so any advice would be appreciated!

Welcome from Maryland!frow.gif

You will get LOTS of advice from this site, so look around as much as you can. Sounds like you have a nice mix of chicks.  Are they inside your house while the coop is being built?  Normally they move outside only once they mostly look like chickens and not chicks, so your husband has some time to get that coop finished.

They are in my bathroom right now in a large container lined with news paper and pine shavings. We have a heat almp hanging above them and they have a feeder and waterer and a couple bricks and sticks to perch on.

Hello and welcome-byc.gif

Sounds like you've got a nice set-up there. Some people say newspaper is bad for young chicks, but I've personally never had any problems with it. If you've got pine shavings over the top, there should be no issues at all!
As for advice, handle the chicks lots. They enjoy it, and grow up used to people, they'll be more comfortable around you later. It shouldn't matter that the chicks are different ages, as they're only a couple of weeks apart and live together anyway.
Are you going to free range them later? Feed some treats, chickens love cooked egg. wink.png
Enjoy the site, and don't be shy about asking any questions you have! frow.gif
