Different pairs daily?

Thread Starter

My guineas seem to be pairing up fine, but they switch up fairly often. Is this swinging type behavior typical or should they pick a mate and stick together. There are 4 hens and three roos and still lots of chasing/fighting amongst the boys.

1 son, 1 daughter, 1 wife, 5 pitbulls, 22 giuneas, 3 BO's, 2 JG's, 6 RIR's, a bunch of mixed hatchlings. 2 mixed roos, 2 cats(sometimes), no hair.

Mine switch mates too, fairly frequently. I haven't noticed it as daily thing before but I'd say what your flock is doing is normal. And sometimes the biggest baddest males in my flocks will have more than one Hen for most of the season while the "bachelors" have to just tag along and kick rocks, lol. Sounds like your nest hunting/egg collecting season's about to start, congrats wink.png

I have 3 hens and 2 males.  For a couple of months it appeared each male had a female & they all ostracized the small female.  They still pick on her from time to time, but yesterday my 2nd male was following her everywhere & calling for her constantly.  My alpha male was walking around with the other two females.  She is still being picked on some and is on the outdoor roost right now while they are in their pen.  She always goes out ahead of the rest & they follow her, but still pick on her from time to time.   The  5 of them didn't seem to stay together as close yesterday.

Forgot to say they just started laying on April 1st.
