*sigh* Guess who has a mild case of bumble foot now . . . .

I don't think I have ever had anything like this. roll.png Woke up yesterday a.m. and when my feet hit the floor, a sharp pain stung my heel.  Yup.  Tiny bump, painful, looks like something made a very tiny cut, perhaps a thorn did it.  Starting to get a little infected.  How can something so small be so much trouble?

I know the drill.  Clean it off, put on triple antibiotic, and if she'll hold still long enough, put some kind of wrapping on it, at least at night, and keep her out of the swim pan.

Do we really have to become more like our ducks? idunno.gif

Thanks, wildpeas, this was a bit of a whine, but I hope the humor came across.  Irony of ironies!

I think the treatment is working. smile.png

I hope you're penned separately from the other girls, kept warm, and given extra peas until it clears up.

I have 2 wonderful sons, 3 ducks (2 Anconas & 1 Buff), 4 laying hens, a Holland Lop bunny, and a big scaredy cat.  I am a Chef, Baker, Bluegrass "Musician" (I know, you can't do both) and artisan.

m.kitchengirl,

Indeed I am!  And no one had to chase me down, pick me up, restrain me!  I even put the ointment on all by myself!  Wow, if the others could only do that.  But then they'd be getting into all sorts of mischief, would they not?

Just like the ducks, though, I cannot tell you how this happened.  I mean, I wear shoes and everything!

Could I be sleepwalking?  Uh oh.

This is another example of how ducks can teach us important life skills.

Maybe something got into your shoes & stuck in your socks.

The brambles and prickers around my property (those are the technical terms for them here wink.png) have no problem getting into my shoes & setting up shop in my socks where they hide for hours or even days before they get me.

It is disappointing the ducks don't have some basic first aid skills.  And we call them domesticated.

lau.gif  Oh Amiga- you are too funny....

I have had a lump on the inside of my foot for a few years now- no idea what the original problem was- but gee does it hurt if I knock it the wrong way.  I think most likely is that I have a tiny splinter of glass in there- and hitting it at just the right angle cause terrible pain.  I hope your foot doesnt continue to give you any trouble though.   It can sometimes by the smallest of scratches or bumps that give us the most pain - as they are the ones in the worst positions that get bumped so easily too.

Now I'm humming the song Deep River Blues, that includes the lyrics:

My old gal's a good old pal,
And she looks like a water fowl,
When I get them deep river blues.
Ain't no one to cry for me,
And the fish all go out on a spree
When I get them deep river blues.
