runner duck pipped wrong end and making no progress

I have a runner duck that is on day 29. Externally pipped early this am but has made no progress. What should I do?

if it can breathe then you can either wait for it or you can take tiny chips of the eggshell around where the baby would make its hole to get out. if it is really stuck (like if the membrane is dry) the you can help it out, but you dont want to help it out if the yolk is not absorbed. Good luck.

sometimes they take a long time to get out

Silver Laced Wyandotte's, Silkies, Ameraucana's, Easter Egger's, Belgian d'anvers, Leghorns, California Whites, Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, one Black Jersey Giant rooster, Guinea's, Ducks, and one Sweetgrass turkey tom.

Hi and welcome-byc.gif from Ohio. So glad you joined. I wait around 24-30 hrs, then I start helping, Peel the shell and membrane little by little. Stop if you see blood in the veins and wait a few more hours, then continue. Good luck. thumbsup.gif

So I got home from work tonight and still no progress.  externally pipped yesterday early am.  I peeled back the shell little by little throughout the day and was finally able to see that the yolk sac had absorbed.  I finally got the little guy out and found that he hadn't detached yet and is now bleeding.  Did I just kill my poor little duck?
