Predator resistance

How hardy are geese do they need protection at night or not I have heard lots of contradicting arguments on both sides.  I live in England, so the largest predator is a fox.  Have other people had problems or are they happy with just so shelter.

A fox can kill a goose. My goose almost got killed by a fox this winter. Luckily, I heard her honking and I was able to chase away the fox before the goose was hurt. The next morning I found a bunch of neck feathers lying where the fox had run. Close call!

I know other people here who have lost adult geese to foxes. I live in Denmark, and we too don't have any larger predators.
