where to get grit for four-week old chicks - Page 2

I bought a bag of "Chick Grit" at Orscheln, and it's apparently a reasonably common product.  I've also heard of folks using construction sand -- at least one person in that thread made it sound like play sand is too fine? -- and that it pulls double-duty in the dust box, but I've never tried it.

Current flock: one Australorp, one EE, one Barred Rock, and one Buff Orpington, all hatched at Cackle on March 19, 2012.

Is play sand often recycled glass though? and is it okay if a chicken gets glass in their plumbing? I've wondered this since I used recycled glass in my landscaping endeavors and pieces make their way to the run occasionally.
