HELP!! Cockatiel stressed what do I do???

I just got a pair of cockatiels today and the male stressed out super bad on the way back to my house and is still stressed here because of the move I'm scared he will die is there anything I can do to get him to not be so stressed out?? He won't eat, drink, grip the roost pole with his feet or anything he just sits on the bottom and makes funny noises and acts like he wants to throw up. I haven't never had a bird to stress this bad, the female is fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cover him up! ( I mean his cage) Leave a dim light on because cockatiels have night fright.  If you scare them at night they will freak out and can kill themselves by breaking a blood feather.  Maybe he will calm down tomorrow :)

Put them in a quiet room that is dark with maybe a night light. I know its tempting but its best to leave them alone for the night if he is that stressed. Dont worry about making them eat, drink or perch right now.

Gradually if they are still very stressed desensitize it slowly by the next day opening the door to the room. going in once in a while and visiting. I would be hands off for a few days

He should be fine. It can take up to 6 months for them to adjust especially if they are adults. I took a male and he screamed for 6 months!

I am so sorry for your loss. hugs.gif You don't have to keep them in pairs however and if you spend some time each day with the female, she will do fine without a mate. Single Cockatiels can live into their 20's alone. Just give her plenty of attention.
