RCOM-20 Calibration

Hello All, Does anyone know how to calibrate the 'humidity range' on a RCOM-20 (2008 model)? I know how to calibrate it to my hydrometer but I mean actually change the range the machine is set too? I have already tried a master reset but that has not helped. 

 

I have checked my hydrometer is correct so I am confident the inci needs adjusting. Only problem is the machine will not calibrate to the range the hydrometer is in. Hydrometer displaying 50% with inci running at correct temp with water filled, inci displaying 39%. Inci will only calibrate upto to 43% so the humidity range must be out. Despite reading older posts I can not find instructions on how to recalibrate the range. Or should I just run the machine dry and calibrate at a lower humidity level?

I have the RCOM Suro 20, Is yours the same with the digital readout? If so I still have directions on how to set the and the calibration.

Unplug the incubator

 

before you plug the rcom20 push and hold the SET button  than plug the rcom20

 

release the SET button

 

this will reset whatever configuration is there

 

you need to adjust temp and humidity after resetting the rcom20

 

to calibrate the humidity to you hydrometer

 

push HUM+ and HUM -buttons until CAL words show on the display

 

than use same butons to adjust the humidity to you own hydrometer

Thanks you for the instructions link. Very helpful. I have actually already tried the master reset. And then calibrated the humidity to match the hydrometer but the humidity setting will not go up as high as the hydrometer is showing so I can not get the two to match. I will now go back to the drawing board and reset to factory and start again. Dam!

Grrrr...I have reset to factory settings. Hydrometer (which I have salt tested and want to work to) is sitting on 46% consistently ...Inci which I believe to be incorrect is READING 20% so with a difference of more than +/- 20 I cannot get the inci to calibrate the same as the hydrometer as the inci adjustment will only go upto 39%...hmmmm normally Im usually quite good with this type of thing...Im the family member that gets given the TV tuning jobs ;) But this has stumped me...should I be calibrating in stages? Changing in increments of less than 20?

I have fiddled with this inci for two days now trying to get it just right...the humidity is now as close to the hydrometer as I can get (1-2% difference between hydrometer & inci reading) I have almost given up hope but it seems to be settling now. It seems to be more stable at night. I'm going to manually adjust any variance by adding removing water as required as I am sure the hydrometer is nearer to correct than the inci reading. (about 20% out I think) SO close to running it dry for an experimental dry hatch! 

 

I have not had a problem before, and I have had some very good hatch rates the past. I am now risking all with my rare Cuckoo Silkie eggs (from very nice stock too) all set and stated, Watch this space.

 

I think I may try and have my machine serviced. Does anyone know if incubators should be serviced? I obviously clean and dry the major parts between hatches, and I make sure it is free from chick fluff, even under the plastic covers. But what about servicing the computer parts? Surely even these need checking some times? 

 

Does anyone dry hatch with a RCom-20 standard? I think our house humidity is around 27-35% varying through the day. I have never dry hatched before, Ive always just turned on the inci and away it goes.
