When do geese mature?

Hi guys,

I'm just curious as to when geese mature, because I apparently have 1 male 1 female, and it is going into winter and I haven't seen them mating or him being dominent. Thanks ahead, Naomi.

I think they start breeding activity on the first spring after hatching -- at least mine did -- but my books said that some can take two years to lay.  I'd think breeding would start the first year though.   Mine were approximately 8 months old when they started flirting with each other, and I think we first saw signs in late winter . . .

EE, Buff Orp, Jersey Giant, White Silkie, Barred Rock, Dominique, Cuckoo Maran, Welsummer and Cochin chickens,  9 Welsh Harlequin ducks, 2 Rouen ducks,  9 American Buff geese, one patient husband, 4 children of assorted ages from 5 - 15
