Contests..hmm..let's see.   I know there will be some hatching something other than chicks..maybe?  This would be for chicks..take a picture of your largest chicken egg.  Compare it to something large, like a tennis ball..what ever you have, to show the size of the egg, largest egg wins.   Then, a picture contest for the smallest chicken egg, can include bantams of course, but not quail, using a dime, or something similar to show the how small it is, but needs to be compared with the same object for all pictures..what ever is decided.  Same for the largest eggs in either categories. chicks or turkeys, quail.

Maybe someone could come up with something for larger fowl, like the turkey or quail.  Hey, pictures of the largest turkey egg, and pictures of the smallest quail egg.  tongue.png  Oh well, it's a thought.

Could do a random pick of a post for week one, two, and three..just one a week, for the first post picked randomly that has the words..."Good Luck" in it.    There would be a lot of well wishing going on after that first week winner!!

Picture contest for your brooder..votes on that one.

How about, instead of cutest chick picture, the funniest stink eye chick picture.  Votes for that.

How about a poem on your hatching.  Short poem.  Votes for that.

Cutest broody ~ or funniest look on broody while sitting and glaring at you.

 There's a few..  big_smile.png

love the ideas!!!  if anyone can think of or donate a prize or prizes for the Contests, that would be great!!

Hi Java! I'd do it but my broodies are sitting on YOUR eggs right now =), plus I have my eggs in the bator as backup in case those don't hatch. I want those ladies outta those nests.. :) Good luck with your hatchalong!! =)

Umm, why not, count me in. lol.png Supposed to be done hatching after the one's in the incubator now are done (call ducks due this weekend, goose due in 2 weeks, 2 sizzle eggs due in 19 days, turkeys in the brooder from easter hatch, EE chicks under broodies, and ducklings in the outside brooder, too many babies!) , but my sizzle roo just started fertilizing the girls' eggs so I need to see what the chicks will look like. I will set however many eggs I get between now and then, probably 6-8 since most of my girls are taking care of chicks and not laying. Who knows, by then I'm sure my remaining laying silkie will have gone broody again and I can just give the eggs to her, Hopefully she manages to squeeze out some eggs between now and then first though. fl.gif

Well maybe I should clarify that the incubators will be shut off. That doesn't account for the 13 broody hens and 3 broody ducks hogging the nest boxes and tucked in the corner. So it may be MY last hatch, but probably not THE last hatch.
