Modified Purina Coop with full instructions and pictures (STAGE 1) - Page 2

Am trying to find the floor plans for the unit you are building.  I noticed that the Floor layout for the Purina Chicken Coop  is approximately a square 45" x 41".  This differs significantly from your plan.  I like what you have and wondered what your reference is.  Am eager to get a coop going, but am not sure where you are taking us!  Do you have the pdf file for the coop you are building?  I'd like to see it!  Please help!!!  Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Some help:

 

"I got lost at Stage 7."  This is understandable as they only laid out 5 stages, which makes me wonder how you got past stage 6.  If you go back and look, they only detailed the first stage out in photos, as that is all the further they got.  While I certainly hope there will be more to come, but don't hold your breath for stage 7, as that could be a substantial wait.

 

LOL!  I'm guessing you meant "step 7" and not stage 7.

 

"This differs significantly from your plan."  They said up front that they modified the standard Purina plans, safe to say they changed the 45x41 inches to 4x6 feet.

Yes, you are correct, if you read carefully the coop will be built over a period of 3-4 weeks in various stages.. The first stage detailed above has 7 steps to complete the frame and pillars.. I am sure they will update as they can.. this coop looks impressive by the details given. OP please can you give a blueprint in PDF and maybe some more photos angles? .. like they aren't doing enough already....

I'm in this project too (I have 1 of the Red Sex Links named Hawk and 2 of the Tetra tints named Serce and Gardenia) and it's actually not that hard. It's come to about 75$ so far in all of the supplies (the stages you've seen). To be honest, I think it'd be cheaper to build one, plus you can be more creative. (change the color,stain, etc.)

I love it and funny thing is I started this same project this week. thank god I will only waste about 20.00 worth of wood. I am starting over going by what you did. Looking forward to seeing the next steps as I hope to be up and going in 2-3 weeks.

one question I will be having 8 Chickens will this be big enough for them?

Modified mine by adding some extra ventilation at the top of the front and side walls. Put flaps on to close in the winter. Side flaps not in pic. Just cut the front and side walls 42 inches and add screen at the top.

 

I like the venting and the fact that you removed the need for cutting the wood at an angle. I am a bit concerned that there won't be enough ventilation with the purina coop I'm building (I live in the southeastern US and it gets very hot and humid here) and this looks like good way to get around the issue. My only concern would be what happens when it rains?
