HELLO... I have 14 hens that are almost a year old.. last fall I was getting 12 to 14 eggs a day from the girls and I had no rooster.. a few months ago my neighbor gave me his 10 year old brama rooster. Who has seemed to get along great with the hens and has been very protective of them . All winter I still continued to get around 10 to 12 eggs a day... now that spring is here, all of the hens have bare backs ,bare butts and some even have bald heads. I am now lucky to get 6 eggs a day. I have also noticed my rooster will not leave the hens alone... he is always breeding them...non stop... every time I look out at the coop he is on a hen.. he jumps on them and bites the back of their head until he is done. is he the reason for the bare hens... or are they molting...is he just to aggressive?? Please help.
