run/perch questions

we were moving things in our yard and i found this in a junk pile. I'm planning on sanding it down and water proofing it, then using it as an outdoor perch for our chicken. Can i paint it as well? Or is it not recommended to paint the perches?

this is the greenhouse they will get to winter in...we're doing some improvements on it before they move in....

and this is the coop that will be in there....my hubby didn't have time to build one, so we bought it.    They will be homed in here and have a temporary run while we finish up everything else.

My chickens would like a perch like that.  They're always happy to have stuff to jump up on.  Yes, you can paint it.  It will help protect it and make it a little easier to clean.  Won't harm the chickens a bit.
