So I am just starting on this Chicken expedition and have built a coop from ideas and info from this site. I had no natural light in the coop so my wife and I came up with this idea. We bought tempered glass lids from skillets and a crock pot from a thrift store and attached them to the coop for windows. The handles unscrew then I used a bolt/screw with a metal washer on top of a rubber one. They seem to be working well. I attached an inside 1"x2" and attached a bolt/screw to hold them in place. I then used clear caulking on the outside to waterproof. Check it out! I thought I would throw it out there to help with ideas or get some feedback.

For extra nighttime light we charge a solar landscape light in the yard during the day then we place in a holder in the coop at night. It looks funny seeing it lit up with the windows.
