Random food question.... - Page 3

We have some friends that are from the Philippines.  Dogs there are like coyotes here.  Their kids were petrified of my german shepherd the first few times they were here.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.

I have zero chicken willpower.

The dogs used for meat in Asia are not a dog you would stick your hand in and pet.

Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton agreed on little publicly, but they did agree that when the public treasury becomes a public trough and the voters recognize that, they will send to government only those who promise them a bigger piece of the pie

Of all meat.. and I've eaten quite a variety, deer, caribou, bear, elk, moose, frog, rabbit, pheasant, turtle, ostrich, crocodile,  lots of sea food (except oyster, they're nasty!) sushi etc.......... I would rather starve than eat a dog, a cat on the other hand could be fair game if it were a choice between him or the dogs!   Mental thing of course, I'm a dog person... I just couldn't do it.  I have a hard time shooting a coyote!

I have huge issues with the way some of the Asians process the dogs. I hope they've stopped the practice, I won't say on here.... but then I had hoped they'd stop killing rhinos for the horn, and one rhino species is now extinct because of it.

I could care less what people eat meat wise as long as they kill it humanly, and don't waste it.  I also don't care if people choose not to eat meat, but I do care about people telling me what I can or can't eat.   I eat a lot of meals without it... but I crave meat quite often.. and I LOVE a good, properly cooked steak (like the one I had last night yum!)

All meat and "other" food items are basically all the same to me in regards to all being ok to eat without conflict of conscience, and I pretty much go by "...everything created by God is good, and nothing to be rejected if it is received with gratitude..."

Even if I can eat everything, conflict of taste is another matter entirely  big_smile.png ...if I can not be grateful to have it then it's not passing through my lips, and right now eating whole bugs would fall into that category sickbyc.gif, yet, should I be starving some day I'm sure my level of gratitude for them and other such things would greatly increase.

Each type of meat that I've tasted so far has had its own distinct flavor, but some types can be hard to distinguish if the meat is mixed with other things.  I'm sure I've eaten dog and cat and horse and other things that I wasn't aware of, and I have no issues with foods other people choose to eat or not eat.  To each their own is my motto.

One meat that I was surprised at, was found when I was searching for info on the new guinea pigs that my wife purchased. Seems that in South America, the close relatives of the guinea pig (also known as cavy) are a major food staple, and raised in many homes for both family food and to sell. I'm not sure I could ever do it, although I've found few meats that I don't like if properly prepared. Rabbit is another... although I've known people that raise rabbits as food, my sister had 'em as pets when we were young. Not going there. :)
