I'm following too   pop.gif   pretty cool for you to try and hatch them out Matt =)

I too am suffering with "Chicken Math". Started with 1 $15.00 tom turkey as a surprise gift for my boyfriend...I didn't even want a turkey! Now we have the tom, a hen, a poult, and three chicks. Tomorrow I am going to a Poultry Swap where I have already reserved three more chickens and I suspect will find more. We have built an 8' x 12' Turkey coop as well. I don't know what happened...but I definitely feel a little obsessed.

Gotta love the chicken and turkey math. For me it is about 85 birds total, but really only have 18 chickens since only 18 lay right now ! Don't count the tom turkey or hens since they are sitting  on eggs, don;t count the poults or baby to teenage chickens, they don't lay either.  DH strongly discourages me from going to any sales or swaps or incubating any more eggs right now, wonder why since I only have 18 chickens.

Just wanting to let everyone know I was looking at the temp inside my bator and a couple eggs are rocking back and forth I thought I was seeing things at first so I called my daughters over and they were really moving quite a bit. It was one chick egg and one turkey does this mean there getting really close to hatching??

Are you sure it wasn't the chicken egg moving? The movement from the chick could have vibrated the screen floor and moved the turkey egg as well. Because I'm pretty sure it's too early for those turkey eggs to be hatching, it should still be about another week to go. We set our eggs around the same time, if I'm not mistaken, and mine aren't due til next Wednesday. But yes, movement of the an egg signifies they are going to hatch soon. And those chicken eggs only take 21 days to incubate so I'd be expecting lil babies very soon. jumpy.gif

I'm positive I thought the same thing but one of the turkey egg is on the other side from the chick egg!! How soon do you think? And do I need to keep turning them?

what day are on? Count from the day you put them in the incubator until now. Personally I wouldn't turn them anymore. They are trying to get into position to hatch so if you keep turning them then they have to keep trying to position. Remeber to lower the temp by .5-1 degree and up the humidity during lockdown.

Today is day 17 for chicks and day 21 for turkeys. I turned them this morning for the last time I'm not gonna turn them anymore. When I left the house the humidity was at 50%, when I get home today I will raise the humidity for lockdown. Thanks
