Myth or Fact: Age of Roo affects sex of offspring.

Someone posted this in another thread..."I'm not sure if you know this or not but it's the hen that determines the sex and not the rooster. For some unknown reason the hens body will produce more roos if the roo is older than the hen and the opposite happens if the roo is younger than the hen."

Has anyone experimented with this theory and what was the outcome?

It is true that the hen determines the sex of the chick: beyond that it's pure fantasy.

I think that this is just a myth.

I hatch out approximately half and half.  In one hatch there may be a deww more roosters thank hens and then in the next batch it may be a few more hens.

 

I have however had a batch back in the fall that had about 3/4 roosters to 1/4 hens.  I can't remeber the exact number hatched but I do remember the roosters, took me forever to get them all butchered.
