Hello from Sioux Falls

Does anyone know when you can give your chicks any treats?  Like mealworms.  The other night I saw a spider crawling up the heatlamp pole and one of my chicks found it and ate it.  The other chicks were chasing her to fight for the spider.  It was gross but funny at the same time.

This is Gracey one of our baby chicks that arrived today.

Welcome to BYC. I recommend that they only be fed starter/grower feed. Keep in mind their innards are still developing.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

I usually wait until they are at least 6 weeks old, then just offer little treats.

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?
