I feel robbed...

I feel that my father has scammed me out of my money when I sold my flock of 4 Silkies to someone via craigslist. I then paid my father the $50 plus $30 to order 20 d'Uccle chicks from Ideal Poultry which he tried to order online and the order didn't went through. He called Ideal Poultry to order my chicks via cell phone order on 4/14/12 and to place the order for 4/18/12 as the hatch date. I sent Ideal Poultry an email about the order inquiry and they replied that they have no such order with all the information that we've given them for the order of the chicks which I personally think that my father didn't place the online order correctly and after all that trouble I feel that my own father has robbed me out of my money...Why does a family member have to intervene into someone's poultry business to cause havoc...??? barnie.gifhe.gif

That sucks! I'm so sorry! I have had the exact same problem only a little bit different, my dad (who hates chickens...and me 5%) told me his friend wanted to buy some of my hens. He makes me go get some the next day and I pick out 4 nice 9 month old hens in their peak of laying. I tell my dad to sell them at $12 a piece. Then he leaves with the hens and comes back a few hours later, I ask him for the money and he gives me $5 rant.gifrant.gifhe.gifsmack.gifduc.giffrow.gif I was really mad. He told me his friend didn't want to pay $48 so he gave him $5 and some pants...that were for my dad!
I think my dad just wanted the hens to disappear so he was willing to sell t hem for anything -_-

I was mad at my dad for weeks.

Another problem rises I told him that 20 of my d'Uccle chicks will arrive on 5/2/12 and he said that he's going to kill them all when they arrive. What should I do? I really want to protect my babies from harm from my father and he also wants to charge me $10 if they poop inside the house. He also has killed and eaten my baby turkey and my Porcelain d'Uccle pair without me knowing and without my permission. My gut tells me that he hates my chickens. When I live in my own ranch I will surely take all my chickens along to my very own ranch that way I don't have to worry about the safety of my pets.

Why would you keep getting pets if you know he wants to hurt them? Thats very irresponsible and not showing that you care about them..
Just wait until you are adult enough to get your own place, then get your pets.
Really its your dads house and if he doesnt want them, then its his choice. Sorry...

I have no idea why you would have them sent to him.  You can have them sent to any address you choose, to yours, your friends.... even better, call up Ideal and cancel the order.  They are very nice and I am sure they will understand.  Part of being a good steward for your animals is knowing when you should wait until you have your own place, a safe place that you know you will have for years to come where they can live.

You consider what you do with the chickens a business, but apparently your father considers it a hobby, and a rather inconvenient one at that. I don't know what other issues there might be to account for this much hostility, but I agree with RHRanch. You should just cancel the order. There's no point in getting chicks if he's just going to kill them - then you'd be out your money and your birds, too. I think you need to get things sorted out before you expand your flock any more, if only for your own peace of mind. When you have your own place, of course, you can do what you like (as long as there aren't any local ordinances or a homeowner's association to stop you), but as long as you live in your father's house, it's "my house, my rules."

It's obvious that the dad doesn't want to have the chickens at his own home in the first place. I think he just has a problem with saying No so he's making mean comments. So just wait till you have your own home before you get any more animals. As for the birds he's eaten. Well that is what alot of fowl is for and it's his house so he's gonna do what he wants. Of course I don't agree with him making a meal out of your birds without saying something first but again I think this is a case of his house, his decision. As for the order from Ideal unless you have a confirmation number from the order or a bank record showing a transaction then there was no order. Are the chicks that are supposed to arrive on 5/2 a different order?

Lots of times parents rehome pets their kids don't take care of. I am not saying you don,t take care of your pets but something to think about.
