I can't say for sure, but I think that maybe since the blessing is unexpected, your family wasn't sure how to react.  They will get just as excited as you before long, and the people who were the most unsure will want to snuggle your kid the most :)

Hope you guys have a wonderful and healthy pregnancy!

x100!

Congrats!

The other day my mom asked if I got her e-mail, I said "no, not yet" she looked disappointed, and said "Oh! I get it, you're too busy on 'backward chickens!" Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!

As the father of seven, CONGRATS!

With every child, the Lord will pour out blessings upon you.

The child within your wife's womb has a purpose here on earth, you are there to help guide the child to that end.

God bless you!

Hay, I don't know you, but I am very happy for you. Nothing is more rewarding than children. My tally is 3. I wish nothing but the best for you. I will also be expecting a cigar when the job is done!thumbsup.gif

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I got the same reaction for my first.  She was the first grandbaby on both sides, and everybody was in shock.  Once she was born, everybody proceeded to spoil her rotten.  Now, I have two and wouldn't change it for the world.

Enjoy every moment!  They grow up too quick, take lots of pictures.  You won't regret it.

when I phoned my mother to tell her I was having my son (he's 21 months old now) she said "well being pregnant doesn't necessarily mean there'll be a baby at the end of it.  I'm going to hang up now and go to digest this information"
when I called to tell her I'm currently pregnant she said "oh.  is that a good thing?"  and "don't expect me to come rushing down there all the time" (she's been here ONCE since my son was born, so why would I expect anything from her?)

so I know how you feel.
I take the view that she's the one who isn't getting to know her wonderful, gorgeous grandson.  Quite definitely her loss.

Unfortunately, it still hurts.

Congratulations for impending parenthood!  Babies scream, make mess, and eat... and are wonderful.
