Was talking to dh, and he wants to know if we nail horse fencing over the chicken fencing would that protect from raccoons? Basically we would have one layer of chicken wire with a layer of horse fencing over it..would make up that one wall made of fencing.

Hello,

I user 2"x4" wire on my coop it keeps the critters out. The chicken wire keeps them from reaching in and grabbing. For nest boxes I use 22 gal. plastic totes. Mine are on the floor of my stalls/coops. I cut a square hole in one end at least 2" from the bottom, it holds the hay in the best and is super easy to clean and disinfect. Just lift the lid to check for eggs.
