Hi, from Minnesota

Hi, My husband & I bought a foreclosed home on 5 acres and decided to raise some small farm animals on it, we have 3 pekin ducklings, 3 cayuga ducklings, 1 speckled sussex, 3 buff orpingtons & 3 buff brahmas, and a new baby bunny. We also have a little black "guard" dog who watches over our babies, we started out with 3 sussex, then 1 died, a few days before it died our dog stopped eating, didn't want to leave the chicks for anything, except to come whine at us every few minutes, then when the chick died she started eating good and sleeping on her bed instead of on the couch next to the chicks box. The 2nd chick died suddenly, we don't know why, but the 3rd sussex seems healthy & happy.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Sorry you lost your little sussex, they are such sweet birds.

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Thank you all for the welcomesmile.png Our ducklings are growing so much faster then our chicks, they are all alot of fun to watch, I put them all together outside the other day with our bunny and the bunny had alot of fun chasing them all. He really was just running around & jumping, but the chicks & ducklings thought he was chasing them. It has been fun watching the chicks learn to fly as they get bigger & get more feathers, it's almost like having little kids again.
