TSC sold me different Breeds????? FYI cuteness overload - Page 2

If the lighter ones are growing *way* faster than the others, they might be Cornish cross. That happened to me last year; my "Buff Orpingtons" were humongous compared to my barred rocks the same age, and that's what they were. Sigh.

Five dogs, two cats, two budgies, one parrot, five hens, six new chicks and a great DH who built me the coop of my dreams:)

Yes they are growing faster. I wanted egg producers, are these good egg producers?

I have a few black sex links in my flock and they are some of my best egg producers. Ive heard the same about red sex links.

I think their too red to be Cornish Cross chicks, they are usually a really pale yellow.  If they are CX...they are meatbird and will be ready to butcher at about 8 weeks.  They usually don't live long enough to lay eggs because they are bred for rapid growth.  Hope they are red sex links.

If they are Red Sex Links then you will have some nice large brown egg layer.

1 Barred Rock, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Faverolles and 1 Leghorn

10 Easter Eggers, 1 Silver Laced

My 2 Red Sex Link hens lay huge brown eggs. They're larger than the large store bought eggs. They're also very reliable layers. I've got 3 6-7 week olds as well and can't wait till they start laying.

Yep, they look like my Red Sex Links. :) They are excellent egg producers, they are a mix of Rhode Islands with another breed. :)

welcome to the club. My straight run bantams... were 100% male and that means I have 8 males to get rid of on TOP of the hatchery screw up.
