Farmers Mutual says that if you have over (8) chickens, you are now a commercial farmer and they add $80.00 a year onto your pyaments.

Be aware

You got to be kidding me?! No way you are a commercial farmer by having eight chickens. In order to be a commercial farmer, you got to be licensed by the state and up to certain amount of numbers of chickens in a given area.

A small price to pay if you really, really want to keep your girls! Sometimes you can fight the insurance companies for the phrase "commercial" and put in "unusual pet ownership" policy.

As I told my insurance guy, I don't want to insure my sheds or my chickens that occupy in them. It could be easily replaced.
