I think I read somewhere that the hen determines the sex of thee chicken so keep their mother if you have her!  the reason being the chromozones are zy for a female chicken and yy for a female mammal (human) so when you do the punnet square the female chicken determines it so maybe you'll get a lot if pullets from her  or i have no clue what im talking about lol but her genes anyway must be good for producing pullets

Yay thanks for all the input.. I bought 6 at our feed supply. But 2 died :( They were all supposed to be pullets so I am glad they are. When they were coop ready I bought 4 more close in age from a breeder locally and introduced them in equal numbers. The new chickens went to the coop before the 4 I had in hopes that my 4 I had would take more to the new enviorment and new chickens who did not have a pecking order yet without much squabble. It worked well only one was temporarily picked on but I gave her places to hide because she was the smallest. Now they are all doing well. They love treats and catching  bugs.. I am so excited for their first egg in 10 weeks or so.

These are the girls at 11-12 weeks.. I thought I should post these because they grow so fast. My silverlaced is getting some waddles and turning a little red in the comb and waddle at times but its seems to not stay. Is it normal for the color to change day to day?
