This guy wasn't aggressive as a baby, he was actually quite skiddish. And he didn't pick on any of the others until they were moved outside to the big coop.

Agreed it's a roo -- the 3 rows on the comb and the color is a slam dunk. Also agreed that behavior doesn't always mean anything. Just means that bird wants to establish itself in the pecking order.

The thing with EE's, there are so many genes mixed in that it's the most mis-sexed bird of them all. Feather sexing isn't reliable, vent sexing is your best bet but for some reason, we've heard repeatedly from different sellers that they get people complaining of having received a cockerel from the "pullet" bin 10 to 1 over other breeds.

The other thing I've seen (because I have one and pay attention) is the majority of cross beaks tend to be EE's too.

~ I'm a mom to an awesome cross-beaked roo who came from the pullet bin too.

Out of the 12 egg layers I got from McMurray all were supposed to be pullets- I ended up with three roosters. 1 buff orpington, 1 colombian wyandotte, and now 1 EE

Wow! Silly me to be so naive and just assume that because I ordered pullets from McMurray that they would actually be pullets. I sure hope all my girls are actually girls...hohum.
