Does anyone think theres a problem with Having A ratio of 2roos to 6hens? also i would love to see everyones quail pens

I like 1:3 or 1:4

I dont put 2 males in same breeding cages, helps me keep track better,

but for colony breeding should be fine so long as they dont wrastle with each other.

and my pens fit about 4 birds just fine.

MobyQuail I love your pens. I think I have seen these used by other members as well. Was planning to build but I really like this option. Is there somewhere I can purchase these and what about cost? I'm pretty good at building pens. If this was something u purchased, are they expensive to buy new? If u built them yourself, Great job but with wheels and all they look manufactured.

BTW I have 1 male in with 5 hens. There was 2 but one decided he hated the other so had to remove the injured one. I am incubating eggs and will still b saving eggs in the future so I will let u know how that ratio works out.
I only have 7 Cots right now and one male is now housed alone and recovering til I get some pens built. I may adopt him out tho since he is the common wild brown color and I already have a hen that color.

I keep 2 males with 6 hens in my smaller pens and they do fine. I found that it increases fertility in the eggs. If one male doesn't do the job, the other one will!

Great Info, I think im gonna give it a go with the two males, my birds seem rather unhostile towards eachother but we'll see they'll be ready to move outside next week. Ill post some pics of my pen and birds.
Keep the pen pics coming!!

People get tired of seeing it, but you asked...here is my quail house. I colony breed (Color separated) and run a 1:5 ratio with 30(ish) cots per pen.
