From left to right, we have Sophia (delaware with twisted back)

Penny (buff orpington who is half blind)

Nellie (other buff orpington who was bullied badly before she was given to us.)

Lucy (Bantam Black Australorp with a crooked beak)

And Gloria (Barred rock with leg problem and breathing problem, both problems being treated.)

Update on Gloria:

We are treating her with Tylan 50 injectable shots.  1/2 cc a day for 5 days, and today is her last day of treatment.  We have seen small improvements, more alert and not drooling as much, but no huge improvements, yet.  We have figured out her leg problem is caused by a spur that is growing on the bad leg.  We have to soak her leg in epsom salts and attempt to file down the spur in the next few weeks.

They are one of my favorite flocks on BYC.  It is great that they get along together.

I hope Gloria continues to improve.

wait, what did I miss here...??? WHEN did you get Sophia? she is just beautiful.

I looked at all the caged animals in the barn...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry."God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied.  "I created you."

fishnet: We got Sophia about a month ago.... she has a twisted back and can't walk very well, and she came from the same place as Lucy.   You gotta keep updated by visiting my blog!  :)

Aoxa:  Oh I am so sorry to hear about Dixie!!!  I loved seeing pictures of her in the past!   Sending hugs your way!  No, the others don't have any of the symptoms.... which is strange, but I couldn't find another disease that came close to the signs she is having.

Getting the perfect chicken photo is so difficult!  There is usually one facing the wrong way, or attacking the camera.  Good job!  Beautiful gals!

Married to the old dude, 0 human kids, 2 horses, 10 cockatiels, 2 parakeets, 1 sun conure, 1 amazon parrot,  1 eccentric peacock, 1 gsd, 1 pet terrapin, 1 Blue Copper Maran rooster, and 14 world famous Jersey Giants!

Stan the Man will be missed.

Thank you. There are a few other things it could be.. Gapeworm can share the same type of symptoms (gaping, breathing issues, loss of weight, etc.) It's very uncommon, but once it's gone they aren't carriers for life...
