My Holderread's order came today too. I got ten TSQ Saxonies and an extra Stanbridge White (Magpie) duckling. My girlfriend and I sexed some of them and it looks like the white Magpie is a pullet and I definitely have at least one drake Saxony duckling (I'm wanting a few drakes because I already have three Saxony hens). They're so friggin' adorable!

 

I'm having alot of fun!!  I love ducklings!!

 

Post pics!!!!!  I wanna see some saxony babies!!!!!!  One day I hope to have some!  Runners, Silkies, Welsh harlequins, and Saxonies are my favorites!!!

A small flock of ducks (3 welsh harlequins and a rouen) a pair of american geese, a lovely anatiolian shepherd, and 10 ducklings ariving on march 18th!!!!!!

Your babies are too cute! I had a heck of a time trying to choose which of my Saxonies to keep and which to sell.

I'm going to have a similar problem. We vent sexed the rest of them, and apparently 8 of the Saxonies are male, two are female, and the Magpie is a female. I'm glad I already have a trio of nice quality hens, otherwise I'd have to rely on the pullet ducklings being good quality. At least I'll have a good pool to choose a really nice male from.

That would be great! Or I could sell you eggs... I don't know if a trio will work because of my disproportionate ratio of drakes to hens. tongue.png

WOW!  Thats kinda a really bad ratio! Gonna sell any male ducklings?  And keep a few aside to pick breeders?

I'm not selling any until I can judge their quality; I want to keep the best (or two best) drakes. I'll probably keep all the hens.

Yes, always keep the very best drake.

 

I came out with 3 hens, and 3 drakes.  I will probably only keep the 2 best hens ( or all 3 if they turn out nice!), and the best drake.  The drake has to be SQ though.  I don't mess around with this breed smile.png
