I am weak...I could no more butcher one of my laying hens, than I could butcher my dog. So I have a lady that takes my old layers. She loves my birds because they are so well behaved and they come to her when she calls them. I called her last weekend, but they are moving into a new location in the town of LaSalle.

I'll call her back in a few weeks and see if she's ready...she is very excited to get some new birds from me...And I like that she takes such good care of my older layers.

Yeah...I just realized that my response to your post WAS WAY OFF...Please forgive my error. :idunno

So...They are laying like crazy. I have my 4 original layers and my 6 replacement pullets. We're getting 5 to 10 eggs a day...and as a result my neighbors love my girls. As we all know, backyard chickens lay the best eggs ever.

My Welsumers  lay such beautiful eggs...I am very happy with this new breed ( Well...New to me).

Well its springtime again...I love this time of year. Time to make a few updates and talk about what's new in my little chicken world.

Updates to come shortly.

I thought about you when I bought 4 Khaki Campbell ducks back in early March! They now "decorate" my pond and live in "The Quack House!"
