Now that I've given you the Conventional Wisdom of storing hatching eggs I'll tell you that I keep mine in my regular old refrigerator which stays between 35 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I typically get better than 90% hatch of chicken eggs from my birds and 85% or better from my turkeys. The rules for this stuff aren't exactly hard and fast. Just keep them cool, but not frozen, and in an area with high humidity and good airflow. You'll get your best hatches from eggs seven days old or less but you can go past that and still do OK if not as well as with younger eggs.

I pretty much agree. I really haven't had any issues with storing my eggs at room temp and still get a 90% to 100% hatches but I do store the eggs in the rack that goes into my incubator for no more than 7 days.

Theres a page on the Texas University website. It says not to let stored eggs get above 72F or go below 46F. It says to keep them between 55 and 65.Any thing above 72 will start the egg to develop.

thanks everyone

i was talking to a good friend and experienced hatcher

and they advised me to keep them between 13-15 deg C

with a humidity of 75% plus

that corrolates to what you guys have said

i then decided to buy a Herp II Reptile incubator that can be used as a fridge infact its a fridge as its advertised as a beer fridge in the manual

it is pefect for egg storage and has full heat and cooling options to maintain temps and a bowl of water will help the humidy stay up

thanks everyone
