SHE IS DRIVING ME NUTS

003.JPGwhy is one of my layers doing what she is doing. she started laying about 3-weeks ago and started out good, 7 eggs in the first week.. 2nd week i got 1 good then 1 bid double yolk,  2 without shells and 1 yolk on the poop board. so far this week i got 1 good,  1 shell less and 1 huge double yolk what the heck is going on!!! She is a nice looking hen. biggest in the flock. i have always bought hens that have already been laying for a couple months. so I'm not sure what to expect from hens just coming of age. any help would be helpful cause i got 14 more girls coming of age by August.

She's got a learning curve. I'd expect it to work itself out.

3 eggs in 3 days. i hope your right about the learning curve cause i really like our RIR (AKA KFC). Also they are starting to get darker and larger then the first ones. (we had to use 2 for waffles instead of the normal 1.)

That one egg looks like 3x normal sized.  Did you weigh it?  ;O)  You didn't photoshop it on me did you??

Nope thats all hers. My daughter said it was delicious. She laid a normal one today again so hopefully she got it out of her system. To bad there isnt a breed out there that lay eggs like this ever day. (how do you weigh an egg?)

I got an ounces/grams scale on ebay--- and I weigh daily.  I posted the USDA egg sizes someplace or other...let's see if I can find a link to that page-->
