New BYC Memebr

Hi everyone!

I'm a new BYC Member from Tallahassee, Florida and I'm super excited to be part of this forum!  I have seen so many wonderful ideas reading your posts here.

Based on BYCs suggestion about how to post as a new member, here is a little info about me:

I am new being a backyard chicken mom; I bought my chickens as chicks and they turned 2 years old as of March 17th.  After some friendly advice to "get twice the number of chicks that you want because half will die in the first year" I bought 8 chicks who are all alive and well today ; )

I have: 2 New Hampshire Reds (Cutlet and Dumpling)

2 Australorps (Pepper and Cassie)

2 Gold Laced Wyandottes (Coco and Barbie)

1 Columbian Rock (Marlee)

and 1 Buff Orpington (Buffy)

(Except for Marlee, all of my chickens are named after chicken dishes but I no longer eat chicken and these girls are just pets.)

BackyardChickens.com was recommended to me by a friend who has chickens and I'm so thankful- it is invaluable!

Other than chickens, I enjoy just about any "outdoor sport" and I work in programming and software development.

Thanks!

Stephanie
