We are new to this and moved our 8 week old chicks out to the coop a few weeks ago. They are free-ranging during the day and are always in the coop at night when I head out around dusk to close things up. Any way, last night all 8 are jockeying for position on the roosts. One of the cochins walked across the backs of two white leghorn so that he could get closer to the wall. The white leghorn were not happy about it, but seemed to accept it!! One of the little Old English chicks stretched her neck up and then ducked way down low and finally decided to try to push under the other chicks off the roost by scooting under them. Four of them, including the OE ended up on the coop floor! I couldn't help but laugh out loud!!
Then this morning, it was raining a little bit and when I pulled up in the driveway after dropping my son off at school, and I didn't see the chicks anywhere. I thought they might be in the coop. Any way, I opened my car door and within seconds, there are 8 chicks looking at me like they want a snack. They follow me around everywhere when I am in the yard - but I never expected to greet me like my dog!!
I LOVE MY CHICKENS!!!
