Gender Guesses EEs? (new pics) - Page 2

Sophie's coloring is actually much duller, like in the second picture. I don't see much difference in any of their combs at this point, but Daisy just feels like a rooster to me (like I would know!idunno.gif). I was also worried about the br mixes, because of their reddness. But there doesn't seem to be any question that they are hens there?

Oh, yeah, sorry about that! They all look like pullets, but a picture of Sophie's comb would help us confirm anything. tongue.png

The legs are super thick on Sophie, the combs is quite large, and there is red in her shoulders.. I am going to say all of these things put together = cockerel.

Within a week their combs will start to get redder. At least mine just started reddening this week.

Here is my female EE - she is 7.5 weeks old in this picture (going on 8 weeks tomorrow).

If you have any coloured like this - they are pullets. It's a colour/pattern that is distinctive to the EE pullets.

New pictures of the two in question. First up is Sophie. She/he is hard to get a picture of because she/he would really rather be on the other side of the pen from me. She/he is not a cuddler! She/he tends to run into the coop when I come into the run. Hopefully these will help.

And now Daisy. Usually she is pretty friendly, but today she was more interested in cuddling with Sunshine than coming to see me.

If different angles would help just let me know and I will try to get better pics. Thanks!

By the way, my girls are much more timid than my boys at that age. The boys were always the first to come say hello and see what I had for them. Now they are beginning to all shy away. Probably because they are integrated with the older girls/guys and won't risk coming for treats when they know they will get pecked. Poor kids. I spend a few minutes holding them at bedtime. That's when they are the most apt to allow handling.
