Well I'm glad someone else here is into natural medicine! I've worked on both sides of the fence for the last decade (raised in herbology, employed in western medicine) & strongly believe that we are blessed w/ the modern science we have but need to preserve the time tested medicinal gifts from Mother Nature... perhaps thats why a lot of us are here on BYC;
to gain insight on how chicken husbandry has survived & evolved over the centuries. I know there are lots of old timers here who are a wealth of knowledge & swear by the simple, common sense practices that were handed down to them.
I LOVE arnica: unfortunately it doesnt grow well where I live so I have to resort to buying it (tinctures, oils, homeopathy pills... *The gels are amazing & are now widely sold in "main stream" pharmacies like Walgreens!)
It has established quite a reputation in the professional sports world so I hope that anyone who thinks we're just a little too "natural" will at least consider arnica as an option for anyone's (including animals!) bruises, sprains, trauma/damaged tissues... like I said, you can get it almost anywhere in gel form since it is now acknowledge in modern medicine.
*Please note: The homeopathic form of arnica is the only way to take it internally unless closely supervised by a healthcare professional!
All other forms are to be used externally.
Happy healing to all!
