Love the peep in the box! I was just thinking how two of mine look just like the little marshmellow treats... Those little black stars are too cute, I wouldn't be able to resist...but trying to wait for next hatch, heard the hen turning the eggs and I'm straining my ears for the little peeps.

I tested mine on golf balls. If you see a hen sitting on a few golf balls and all fluffy, then she may sit. When I find a hen hanging around the nest box all day, I put her alone in a mini coop. Watch her if she sits all day and only gets up to potty and eat/drink try real eggs. Also helps if you keep food and water close so she can sit and eat/drink I made the mistake of putting 12 under the last untested broody. 3 hatched then she started killing the unhatched then stared pecking at the new babies. So I took the eggs and babies away and put them under a heat lamp. 2 more hatched that was it. So she will no longer have the chance to be a mom. She still goes in and sits in the nest boxes and I keep pushing her out of it taking away any eggs she has gathered. The stupid chicken keeps trying. My BO was great she sat on them all day just got up long enough to do the rounds once a day. She watched and protected them till they where 4 weeks old. I'm hoping she will brood again since she started laying again.

Hello, we were on here a lot last year when we got our first 7 chicks.  They are big and strong and happy little layers, and we can legally get a few more since we enlarged the footprint of the coop.

So here are the 5 new babies, hatched Monday and delivered Tuesday from mypetchicken.com (wonderful healthy babies too!!!)

Left to right - Chicken Pot Pie is an Easter Egger, Carbonara is an Australope, Cordon Bleu is a Blue Splash Maran, Osso Buco is a Welsummer, and Marsala is a S-L Wyandotte.

We hold them every day, and they all relax except the the Maran (or is it Marans), who quivers a lot until she settles.

7 perfectly wonderful chickens...but I want one of those, and one of those tooo...so now we're raising 5 little ones. PLEASE don't be too noisy, guys...this is my neighborhood here!

2 Banties from the feed store and 4 from the awesome chickenstock over the weekend for my kiddos..  Not sure what the 2 black ones are (Australorp and ? maybe) and the other is EE vs Ameracauna, pretty sure it's EE, but how do you tell the difference??  So fun to watch them grow!!
