My Brooder and Coop/Run

I am by no means a carpenter! It doesn't look like much but I am proud of it. It definitely doesn't look like a professional built it. I am about to begin either adding on or building another coop for my 6 reds I got. What do you think?

I think its great! Just need to paint it real well to make it last longer...

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

It is very nice! but with the brooder at a time when the chicks start making a whole bunch of dust I am afraid you might have a small problem there, because it is so open. but like i said you did a good job on it!!!

Good Job, but depending on your predators you may want to rethink chicken wire as coons and dogs are strong enough to go through it .

I had lots of help (that is I supervised) and we used hardware cloth. http://www.backyardchickens.com/gallery/album/view/id/6177963/user_id/44847

I've still had one snake, think it got carried in on accident.

Thanks! That is why they are in the garage! The first 8 that I got we kept in our guest bedroom.......BAD IDEA!!! Dust everywhere!!!! Since they are in the garage, dust isn't really an issue since we usually keep the door open during the day.

It looks like a slick smooth layout...the eggs boxes can be accessed from the outside, feed and waterering stations can be accessed easily. The coop itself looks secure and the birds will be asfe with pleanty of room. Very nice.

Thanks! When I started building, I was going to go with hardware cloth but ended up not doing it. We have outside pets that usually keep stuff like that run off. I go out every morning and check for signs of something trying to get in. However, in the near future I may redo it with the cloth.
