Hi my names Amber! I'm new at raising chickens but I have a bachelors in ag ed and ran a very active show team thru my school. I am currently dept manager of pets and ag at a agriculture corporation! I love animals, and love starting new things hence the chickens. i got them for insect control primarily but am excited to show my 4 yr old son the egg process. i love researching new things, like chicken breeds, coops, feeders, etc but i also usually find myself needing immediate satisfaction! lol i have 6 8 wk old pullets... 3 sliver laced wyndottes,(should of researched more mine are lil skid dish), 1 RIR, and 2 ISA Browns, which i enjoy they are the calmest. Then i brought home a New hampshire red with a bad eye and purchased 3 Ameraucanas to keep with him (wanted blue eggs too)! The hamp is pretty calm because of handling him and doctoring his eye, the ameraucanas were seeming timid but are lil more skid dish than they used to seem. These last 4 are only 3 wk old pullets! I turned a childs cedar playhouse i not my coop and I'm hoping to open range in my yard depending on the hawks in the area! sure once i lose one ill be expanding my run to accommodate them better! any advice for diy waterers and space saving tips for the inside of the coop are greatly appreciated!!
